Ping check

RMON performs a ping check by sending ICMP packets to a specified host. The size of these packets is determined by the value specified in the "Packet size" field. You can also specify the number of packets to send in the "Count packages" field. The default value is 4, which means that RMON will send 4 ICMP packets to the target host. The primary purpose of this operation is to assess whether the host is reachable and to measure the round-trip time for the packets to travel to the host and back, Jitter and packets lost.

If the host does not receive the packets within a specified timeout period, RMON sends a warning message. The absence of a response can indicate potential issues such as network congestion, misconfigured devices, or even a complete outage of the target host.

Ping check creation

The check can be created for several countries, regions, or agents at once. To do this, select the desired category in the "Place" field and click + next to the countries/regions/agents for which you want to add the check.

Fill in all the necessary fields, including the "Retries" field, which specifies the maximum number of attempts the system will make to reach the service before it is marked as down and a notification is sent. Additionally, you can specify the runbook in the "Runbook" field to provide a reference guide or set of instructions for troubleshooting the service in case it goes down.

RMON also allows users to configure notifications for alerts about any issues related to Ping checks by selecting from various channels, including Telegram, Slack, PagerDuty, and/or Mattermost, when adding a new check.
